Charlie Blackmon Homers, But Rockies Fall to Dodgers

Rockies Drop Series Opener in Los Angeles

Blackmon's Solo Shot Not Enough as Dodgers Win 4-2

Charlie Blackmon hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, but it wasn't enough as the Colorado Rockies fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 in the series opener at Dodger Stadium on Monday night.

The Rockies, who have now lost five of their last six games, fell to 28-34 on the season. The Dodgers, meanwhile, improved to 40-23 and extended their lead in the NL West to 6.5 games.

Blackmon's home run was his 13th of the season and gave the Rockies a 1-0 lead. However, the Dodgers answered back with two runs in the bottom of the inning off of Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela.

Senzatela allowed four runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings of work. He struck out four batters and walked one.

The Dodgers added two more runs in the sixth inning off of Rockies reliever Tyler Kinley to take a 4-1 lead.

The Rockies got one run back in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Ryan McMahon, but that was all they could muster against the Dodgers' bullpen.

The Rockies will look to even the series when they face the Dodgers again on Tuesday night. Kyle Freeland will start for the Rockies, while Julio Urias will start for the Dodgers.
